Welsh textile artist working and living in Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK

Croeso/Welcome to my website

Images are initially created in watercolours, inks, oils and oil pastels. Paintings are transformed into textile relief panels and art quilts in her own technique devised and named by Cynth Weyman as ‘Intaglio Strati’: several layers are stitched together, layers deeply cut work. Some are enhanced by hand thread work.

Travel influences my choice of bold colours, textures and fabrics especially West Wales, North England, Italy and India. Each fabric has its own tale to tell. Fabrics often include cotton, wool and mouth-watering Indian silks gathered on route.

Series’ of paintings and textile reliefs are based on seascapes, botanical and figurative themes. Artworks are often produced as single pieces, diptychs or triptychs. Some combine a contemporary semi-abstract style using a personal language. Each image is accompanied with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Inspired by my textile reliefs, fashion label ‘Cynth Weyman 100% silk scarves Made in Wales’ for serious collectors or special occasions are hand finished. Some are embroidered. Concert Capes and Conversation tops based on favourite icons can be commissioned too. Prints and cards are also available.

Intaglio Strati artworks are designed for above sofas and beds, stairs, foyers, landings and narrow spaces above cottage windows. Cynth is keen to work alongside architects and interior designers who create contemporary twists in restored historic buildings such as converted barns, mansions, hotels and refectories and need a ‘Wow’ factor piece.

If Cynth’s not creating in her studio, she’s creating with plants in her garden near the Pembrokeshire coastal path and Preseli mountains, Wales. A warm welcome awaits you when you visit Cynth’s studio and luscious garden in Dinas Cross. Visits outside exhibition dates are by request tel:0044 (0)1348-811128 or text 07772820313.
