‘Retire to Wear Purple – No Chance!’
Using
vibrant Indian cottons and silks, Cynth Weyman has created her own
unique art form and named it ‘Intaglio Strati’. Cynth Weyman is
inspired by the beauty of the countryside, the sea and human form,
catches and enhances her chosen subjects in inks and watercolours, and
then translates images into textile reliefs creating textile relief
panels and art quilts. see: www.cynthweyman-artist.co.uk The
Cloisters Gallery at St David’s Cathedral is light and airy and ideally
suited to Cynth’s retrospective collection. Many visitors have likened
her work to stained glass windows - but in textiles. A wonderful
opportunity to see her work at its best.

End
of Summer Show at Waunifor Art Centre 21st – 30th August 2010 Cynth & twenty other local artists will show a very exciting exhibition at Canolfan Waunifor Arts Centre last year. Wales’s National TV Channel S4C interviewed Cynth invited to do a full interview about her work, run a small workshop showing her textile technique and discuss the works of other artists – in Welsh of course! Guy Mannering, a local painter, was also interviewed as was Cllr Peter Davies from Cardigan. The event was very well attended in this quite isolated arts centre which has become a retreat style venue for artists home and abroad. Organiser and artist Jenny Mynett is coordinating another show for 2010 which will feature a wide range of expressions and styles, including new work not shown before. see: www.waunifor.com
Arton
Gallery Kyoto Japan 7th-19th April 2009 ‘Babling Brook over Sunlit Bronze Stones’ textile relief was selected to be exhibited at Arton Gallery as part of ‘The Cosmos in CD cases’. This special show was organized by Fishguard Arts Society. Working on such a small scale was a real challenge for her as many of Cynth’s textile panels and art quilts are up to 4ft x6ft. However, she managed to include many silk layers and a thin row of beads – the final piece just fitted into the CD case. The piece, inspired by the stream behind Nant Y Coy, where Cynth has had previous artist in residencies, was selected for the gallery’s publicity poster, invitation card and website adding an extra thrill. The thrill still remains! www.arton-kyoto.com/events.php Visit Cynth Weyman’s Studio & Garden 2010: Welcome to Cynth’s Studio & Garden in Dinas Cross, Fishguard, between May and September 2010 and New Year 2011. creating in paint or textiles, she is creating in her garden. She also

art and garden trail in the area. In 2010, Cynth & Dave will open up the luscious garden to add to the visitors’ day out. In addition to finding out about Cynth’s textile technique, visitors can share low maintenance garden tips. Refreshments are available too with donations to Pembrokeshire Air Ambulance.
