Images are initially created in watercolours, inks and oils and then transformed into an unique textile relief technique named ‘Intaglio Strattos’ devised by the artist i.e. several layers stitched together and cut work enhanced by hand thread work and mixed media. Fabrics often include cotton, wool and Indian silk. Themes are inspired by natural forms from plants, rocks, seascapes, erosion and/or human figures. Travel influences Cynth’s choice of images, materials, strong colours and textures, especially countries like West Wales, North England, Italy and India. Each picture tells a story. Some combine a contemporary semi-abstract style using a personal language. Each image is accompanied with its own story and certificate of authenticity. Cynth’s affordable artworks in panelled wall hangings or quilt art are produced as diptychs or triptychs but pieces can be purchased separately. Cynth’s artworks are often in series of up to ten pieces for special exhibitions. Textile reliefs art pictures are designed for behind sofas and beds, mezzanine landings, stairs, hotel foyers and narrow spaces above cottage windows. Member of Quilting Association Llanidloes, Fishguard Art Society and Celf Cambria Arts Wales.
